Oahu has been a favorite place of mine for seven years, and I never even knew this temple existed there until I started taking photos... That's one of the nice things about taking up photography as a hobby: it makes you go out, look for and find new, beautiful things. The Byodo-In Temple is located at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains in a place called the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park (a cemetery with temples representing different religions and philosophies). The Byodo-In was built in 1968 to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. It's a smaller-scale replica of the over 950-year-old Byodo-in Temple in Uji, Japan. I loved it here... Now it'll be a place I'll visit in Oahu whenever I'm on the Windward side and seeking a few quiet moments.
